"Isn't that a little too little to go on for a mission briefing?" He muttered as he jostled his head a little with his palm in hopes of clearing his head. He felt something... a hole... no, a memory port. "Of course," he chuckled, and plugged the device in and listened to the rest of the briefing.

It's been two weeks since he has arrived on this planet and things are finally falling to into place. The man walks into his single room apartment in the downtown core of New New New York. The phone rings and he picks it up.

"Mick speaking," he tucked the phone between his head and shoulder as he took his overcoat off. There was no reply, except the sound of three monotone beep that signaled no receiver. With a scoff he returned the phone to its holder and walked himself in the kitchen.

"Whoever's idea it was to make New New New Earth an exact replica of the original Earth at the turn of the 21st century was an idiot," thought Mick. If it wasn't for the mission, he wouldn't be on this antiq---BAM BAM---two bullets whizzed past his right temple, one of them shattering the phone he had held just a moment ago. "Damn sniper was smart, lining up his shots with a phone call," he thought as he rolled to press against the wall right underneath the now-broken window, out of his assailant's view.

He unlocked the revolver from its holster, and unconsciously scratched the rust off the aluminum barrel, unveiling the old serial number carved in it a decade ago. His coat was only half off, dangling down his right shoulder like a overlayered cape. He wasn't certain of the exact location of the assailant, or whether it's human or an automated android set to shoot when the phone rang.

Another few rounds of bullets scanned across the room. "I can't stay here like this," he though. Just then, the door blew off from its hinges.

Micky's arms jerked up like a spring loaded piston, and his trigger finger pulled triggers faster than an American psycho's trigger finger pulling the trigger. The ricochet of bullets told him that he either didn't pull the trigger finger on the trigger enough to trigger a chain reaction to penetrate the metal plating of an armor, or that it is a anti-personnel full metal cyborg, Annex Corp made and stylized, either seems fantastic of an option, but it ain't bad if he don't sit around and find out. He pulled himself out from his corner, and dove onto through the door of the bedroom, the rough night is going to get rougher.

Grabbing his personal aviation device, he jumped out the window and dived straight down. 500 floors and a 30 second start time for the turbine on his back, Micky's physics isn't that great. On top of that, it seems Annex Corp added flight abilities to their newest line up.

If this was earth, he would not have made it, but New New Earth's atmosphere is a bit thicker; its terminal velocity a bit smaller. Letting his coat fan out like wings, he slowed his descent enough to feel the turbine roar into life, just as he reached the 17th floor. He shot back into the air at the head of a blazing trail of fumes - it's time to get this mission started.

[The record for terminal velocity in the head-down diving position, on Earth, is 274 m/s. Assuming Mick's dive gives him a terminal velocity of one half the record holder's, or 137 m/s, he would have fallen for 13.7 seconds before reaching terminal velocity. During this time he would have fallen 919 m.

During the other 16.3 seconds before his turbine kicks in, he would be falling at his terminal velocity and cover a distance of 2233 m. In total, he would have fallen 3152 m.

If the building was 500 stories tall, and each story was 3 meters, it would be 1500 m, which is ... not enough... ]

He spun onto his back in mid flight, and saw his pursuers speeding toward him at a dangerous speed. They weren't aiming to chase him, they'd rather crash and burn with him. However, the night is young, and too quiet to not let a few floater proximity mines drift out of his fingers and let there be rage against the machines.

The mines generated powerful EMPs, disabling his pursuers. Micky let out a long laugh, which was only stopped by the realization that he was now in a free fall. Too bad he didn't have a parachute.

What kills you isn't the fall, it's the sudden stop on the bottom, that's what Micky learnt in his days as a journalist. To his great luck, he landed in a series of cloth lines which broke his fall to the bottom. Of course, it doesn't mean it didn't hurt, but the man got a lot of soul so he'll live.
